Two weeks of spring break
The spring break in the Netherlands is spread over two weeks. The school holidays are arranged in such a way that not everyone can go on holiday to Texel at the same time. Very nice. However, the demand for a wonderful week, weekend or midweek in the spring break on Texel is high. The sooner you book, the more choice you have in the availability of our accommodations. Our country houses are very popular.
Popular Wadden Island
Texel is one of the five Wadden Islands. During the spring break, this is the most visited island in the Netherlands. The versatile landscape of Texel makes this island extra attractive. Texel has a rich nature, forests, heather, kilometers of beach and even a spoonbill colony. All that beauty is waiting for you during your spring break on Texel.
Luxury accommodations
When you book your Texel spring break in time, you are assured that you will end up in one of the most beautiful places on Texel. The holiday homes that you will find with us are located in and around the pleasant island village of De Koog. A cozy island village, only two rows of dunes away from the sea. For example, take a look at our bungalows in the Kamperfoelie park. Located 500 m from the center and 1 km from the beach, with the National Park De Duinen van Texel on your doorstep. For the lover of peace and nature, we have rural holiday homes on the Nieuwlanderweg, right next to the Waalenburg nature reserve.

Our holiday apartments, as well as bungalows and family houses are equipped with every comfort, with which you can spoil yourself during the spring break on Texel. In the apartments of complex Juliana you will find a steam cabin or whirlpool and you can use additional facilities at the recently renovated Zeedistel complex, such as an excellent bread service. Because all houses in our offer are privately owned, the luxury is not the same in any accommodation. Where you will find several garden terraces or playground equipment at one, another house is equipped with, for example, a charging point, hot tub, fireplace or sauna. Buytenplaats, Waalerburght and Duynzoom are a pleasure to stay in the spring.
Nice outside in the spring
Spring break is a great opportunity to spend a week with the whole family. Get a breath of fresh air at the beach, maybe snooze with the kids. Who knows what the winter storms have brought ashore. In the meantime, the dog will also find his entertainment, with running, digging pits or fetching. You can end the day with a cup of soup with onion bread in a beach pavilion or a tasty pancake from the Catharinahoeve. During the chilly evenings you can warm up, in our apartments Juliana or our spacious bungalows the Hoogelandt.
Facilities, parking and public transport
Texel is dominated by peace and quiet in the winter months. However, that does not mean that everything is closed. Restaurants, cafes and the larger beach pavilions are just open. Just like the shops in the village centers and the craft farms that sell Texel's product. Parking is no problem during the spring break on Texel. You always have your own parking space at our accommodations. On a guarded site, such as at the apartments or next to the holiday home, in the private garden. Public transport is easy on Texel. Regular scheduled services run from Connexxion and Texelhopper. The latter can even be ordered on time and place. Paid parking is available in all public places and at the beach cover. For this you can buy a texel vignette online. This can be a day ticket or a weekly ticket.
Peeking in nature
By the end of winter, when the days start to lengthen gently and the first rays of the sun start to give off their heat, it is very busy in nature. Birds firmly court each other and are at the same time busy, with nest building or to get a place in a breeding colony. The spring break on Texel is perfect for spotting birds. The trees are not yet full in the leaves, so you can still see everything well. Speeds the largest spoonbill colony in the Netherlands in De Geul and the common terns, avocet and black-headed gull in Ottersaat.
Walking and cycling
Walking and cycling, until the legs really don't want to anymore and you haven't seen everything Texel has to offer during the spring break. Varied landscapes, of a diversity, as you will not find anywhere else in the Netherlands, interesting sights and history that encourage thought. Such as remnants of the Atlantic Wall, the aviation and war museum and Fort De Schans. Along the routes of the 140 km bicycle junction network you will also find a wealth of small-scale producers of Texel's product. At these farms, nurseries, companies and workshops you can look around, taste and make purchases if necessary.
Sightseeing in the spring
The most famous to do in the spring is without a doubt cuddling the lambs on the sheep farm. Not only fun for the children, but also as an adult you are completely out of the world, as soon as you hold such a nice wool-smelling lamb in your arms. It can sometimes be a bit too fresh during the spring break on Texel. For a brisk walk, however, the weather is often beautiful. And if you are a bit cold after a walk on the beach: in the beach pavilions the heaters burn and serve nice and warm snert.
Picturesque villages
Also visit the picturesque villages such as De Waal, Oudeschild, Den Burg, or Den Hoorn. And the attractive seaside resort of De Koog is really a holiday seaside resort located directly behind the dunes. Other fun activities and sights with the spring break include the EcoMare seal center, the indoor swimming paradise Caluna, spotting seals during a seal trip, beachcombing, kite flying, sea fishing, horse riding, windsurfing and much more.
