Introducing.. Kelly - "my first week as a new receptionist at Texel Vacations.."
Hello everyone! I'm Kelly and since June 23 I have been working as a receptionist at Texel Holidays.
What a warm welcome! That's my first thought when I think back to my first week of work at Texel Holidays.
My desk was set up, my laptop was set up and my lunchbox in the fridge even already had a sticker with my name on it, all the little things make the difference.
The colleagues I had already met at the staff barbecue all responded positively, completing the warm welcome.
Since my first day of work was on a Monday, I was immediately introduced to a busy changeover day. I found it impressive to see what is involved when guests leave a residence. The home is cleaned, the cleaning is checked, and the quality of the home is also checked. “Is everything there for the next guests?” Etc etc. Between a departure and an arrival, 3 colleagues go through a property, I was not aware of this beforehand.
What I noticed is that many guests return to Juliana because they were so satisfied with their stay last time. As a result, there are many “regular guests” that some colleagues already recognize and so some guests also noticed that I am a new face at the front desk.
My first week consisted of 4 working days, during which I mainly focused on making bookings, answering emails and getting to know the company and my colleagues. All apartments and vacation homes have different individual furnishings and phenomenal views, it will take some time before I know all the in's and out's, but that makes the work extra challenging!
We ended my first week with a few colleagues with a drink in the sun, with the beautiful view of dunes and sea and then I could go into the weekend tired but definitely fulfilled.
