Allow us to introduce.. Carmen & Martijn
We are Martijn (39) and Carmen van der Werff (33).
We’re probably not the most familiar faces at the company to most guests, but we’re always here.
It’s been 8 years now; in 2018, we both returned from Eindhoven, where we lived for 6 years to study and gain work experience.
Martijn has a background in security systems (security and smart home systems) and the hospitality industry (Van der Valk banqueting), while Carmen studied Sports Marketing and Management at Fontys, graduated with a degree from the KNVB, and then worked in sports marketing (Sportunity).
We met on Texel at Café de Jutter; we were both working in restaurants and would wave to each other while on the job (at Quinty’s and Vogelhuis). Carmen took Martijn with her to Eindhoven, but also back to Texel when Carmen’s father called her—a little earlier than planned—to return and join the company Texelvakanties. In 2022, Carmen took over the reins, and in 2024, Rob and Marian (Carmen’s parents) said their final goodbyes to the company to enjoy their well-deserved retirement.
For those who still know Rob and Marian well, you can be sure they’re enjoying life to the fullest. They take wonderful trips, enjoy the garden, the beach, and their dog to the fullest—but above all, they cherish the time they spend with their grandchildren. In 2024, our lives were enriched by the birth of our son, Luc.
Over the past 8 years, we’ve had the privilege of experiencing so many wonderful stories and gaining valuable insights. We could write a book filled with beautiful, touching, funny, or downright strange situations involving both guests and homeowners. Every day, something unexpected happens that we have to adapt to. And that’s exactly what makes this work so enjoyable and dynamic.
It’s not just the above that makes this work worthwhile—it’s also the growth we’ve been able to experience. Growth in the range of beautiful accommodations, growth in quality (not just in terms of luxury), but above all, growth in a super strong, steady, and fun team.
We are so grateful to you all for these wonderful years, and we hope to welcome you for at least as many more years to help you enjoy a wonderful vacation on Texel.
